Maria Emília was born in São Paulo, Brazil. From an early age, she accompanied her father (who is a guitarist) in the fado houses of her hometown. In her teens she moved to the North of Portugal where she continued to sing while attending school. She finished high school in Theater and chose Clinical Psychology for the university course.
Soon came the challenge of making a living from music or continuing to study. She chose music and grew up in the midst of fado as one of the great voices of the new generation.
Her first discographic album was published in October 2018 and is distributed in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain and Poland. It was also the year of her first international concerts in Algeria, Spain, UK, France, Italy and Brazil; followed by a 2019 where Maria Emília saw her voice debut in New York (NY Fado Festival), South Africa, Sweden, Holland and Lithuania.
In 2020 she toured Poland for 13 dates and a first foray into Latvia with huge success.
2021 marks the return of one of the most beautiful voices of the new generation of fado with “Fado Enamorado”, written, composed and produced by Tiago Machado.
