André Baptista

André Baptista is a renowned Portuguese Fado singer born in Lisbon, who spent his childhood in the coastal city of Sines.
He began singing in the Alentejo region and later returned to Lisbon to attend university, where he became a regular performer in the city’s traditional Fado houses.

Known for his elegant stage presence and expressive voice, André Baptista quickly gained recognition from both audiences and critics. In 2014, the Amália Rodrigues Foundation awarded him the prestigious Revelation Prize, highlighting him as one of the most promising voices of contemporary Fado.

His interpretations of traditional and modern Fado have been featured in several anthologies and compilation albums. As a solo artist, André Baptista has released three acclaimed albums: Um Fado Nasce, Gentes do Fado, and Cores da Vida. The first two albums were produced by Gonçalo Salgueiro and released by CNM – Companhia Nacional de Música, while the latest album was produced by renowned Portuguese musician Jorge Fernando and released by Valentim de Carvalho.

Throughout his career, André Baptista has performed on major Portuguese stages, at international music festivals, and on radio and television programs, bringing the soul of Lisbon Fado and traditional Portuguese music to audiences around the world.
