Born in Lisbon, he began his contact with the Portuguese guitar at the age of 18. He had as teachers some of the greatest exponents of the Portuguese guitar, such as Carlos
Gonçalves, António Luís Gomes, Paulo Parreira and Raul Nery, the latter being his great reference, unanimously recognized as an accompanist of excellence in the voice of Fado.

Always concerned about not breaking the link between the guitar tradition of the past brought up to the present day, he has participated in numerous shows both in Portugal and abroad, supporting voices as diverse as Tereza Tarouca, Kátia Guerreiro, João Ferreira-Rosa or Nuno da Câmara Pereira.
